Ben Potts Named Preseason All-American

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior tackle Ben Potts (Valparaiso, Ind./ Valparaiso) has been named to Football Gazette's 2006 NCAA Division III Preseason All-America Team.

A third-team selection, the 6'3", 293-pound Potts earned All-University Athletic Association first team honors a year ago as he helped spearhead a Chicago offense which averaged 377 yards per game with 13 rushing touchdowns.

Potts also garnered ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District second team honors in 2005 in addition to collecting his second straight UAA All-Academic Recognition Award.

The defending UAA champion, Chicago posted a 5-4 overall mark last season. The Maroons open their 2006 campaign on September 9 when they entertain Concordia (Ill.) University at Stagg Field.
