Abby Delia Named Assistant Swimming Coach
CHICAGO -- University of Chicago Director of Athletics Tom Weingartner announced today that Abby Delia has been appointed assistant men's and women's swimming coach and assistant director of aquatics.
Delia was a member of the women's swimming team at the University of Buffalo from 2000-04. She received bachelor's and master's degrees in economics in 2004 and 2006, respectively.
As a senior, Delia received Buffalo's Coaches Award, which is presented to the student-athlete who best exemplifies the team virtues as defined by the head coach.
During the 2003-04 campaign, she posted Buffalo's top 100- and 200-yard backstroke times and scored points in the 100-yard backstroke and 100-yard freestyle at the Mid-American Conference Championship. She concluded her career as part of the school's record-setting 400-yard freestyle relay team.
Delia has worked in Buffalo's office of intramurals and recreation and has coached at the club level for several years.
Delia joins assistant coach Doug Milliken on the staff of first-year Head Coach Jason Weber.
