Chicago Routs Carnegie Mellon 100-69
CHICAGO -- Senior Jesse Meyer (Omaha, Neb./ Bellevue West) scored 16 points, including four three-point field goals, to lead the University of Chicago men's basketball team to a 100-69 University Athletic Association victory over Carnegie Mellon University Friday night at the Ratner Athletics Center.
Chicago (12-3 overall, 3-1 UAA) trailed 12-11 at the 15:13 mark of the first half before going on a 14-2 run to take a 25-14 lead midway through the opening stanza.
The Maroons led 52-32 at the intermission and maintained at least a 22-point advantage throughout the second half.
Junior Nate Hainje (Brownsburg, Ind./ Brownsburg) collected 14 points, eight rebounds, and a game-high five assists, while senior Jason Vismantas (Highland Park, Ill./ Highland Park) added 13 points and nine boards off the bench.
Senior Brandon Woodhead (Lincoln, Neb./ East) also finished in double digits with 11 points as Chicago posted its third consecutive victory.
The Maroons shot 60.7% from the field en route to their first 100-point performance in 43 games dating back to February 11, 2005.
Ryan Einwag paced the Tartans (9-5, 2-2) with a game-high 20 points.
