Maroons Win UAA Road Opener
ATLANTA, Ga. -- Seniors Jesse Meyer (Omaha, Neb./ Bellevue West) and Brandon Woodhead (Lincoln, Neb./ East) each scored 19 points as the University of Chicago men's basketball team defeated host Emory University 99-75 in University Athletic Association action Friday night at the Woodruff Center.
Chicago (10-3 overall, 1-1 UAA) trailed 25-24 before outscoring the Eagles 17-4 during the final 5:27 of the first half en route to taking a 41-29 lead at the break.
The Maroons, who led by at least 11 points throughout the second half, opened up their largest lead of the night, 70-50, with 11:48 left in the contest.
Freshman Jake Pancratz (Schaumburg, Ill./ Schaumburg) scored a career-high 17 points off the bench for the Maroons, while junior Nate Hainje (Brownsburg, Ind./ Brownsburg) added 14 points.
Chicago shot a season-best 61.1% from the field, including a 14-of-24 effort (58.3%) from three-point range.
Spiros Ferderigos and Adrian Sosa scored 27 and 22 points, respectively, for the Eagles.
