Chicago Defeats Lake Forest 66-39
LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Junior Nate Hainje (Brownsburg, Ind./ Brownsburg) scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the University of Chicago men's basketball team to a 66-39 win Tuesday night at Lake Forest College.
Chicago (3-0) held the host Foresters to 34.7% shooting from the field, including a 1-for-17 clip from three-point range. The 39 points were the fewest allowed by the Maroons in 62 games dating back to the 2003-04 campaign.
Making their first road appearance of the season, the Maroons outscored Lake Forest (1-1) 19-5 during the final 10 minutes of the first half to take a 40-15 lead at the intermission.
A three-point field goal by freshman Jake Pancratz (Schaumburg, Ill./ Schaumburg) with 16:41 left in the game gave the Maroons a 46-24 advantage. Chicago would maintain at least a 20-point lead the rest of the way.
Hainje hit three of five three-point field goal attempts as he reached double digits for the third time in as many games.
Seniors Jesse Meyer (Omaha, Neb./ Bellevue West) and Drew Adams (Elida, Ohio/ Elida) each scored 10 points, including a pair of three-point baskets. As a team, the Maroons were 10-of-29 (34.5%) from behind the arc.
Hoyt Rees led Lake Forest with eight points.
