Maroons Finish Ninth at Regionals; Two Earn All-Region Honors
DAVENPORT, Iowa -- Seniors Brian Hague (Chicago, Ill./ Brother Rice) and Emil Bojanov (Sofia, Bulgaria/ Dulaney, Md.) earned all-region honors as the University of Chicago men's cross country team placed ninth at the 37-team Midwest Regional, hosted by Augustana (Ill.) College at the Credit Island Golf Course.
Hague and Bojanov finished ninth and 13th, respectively, with times of 25:02 and 25:13 on the eight-kilometer course. Both runners will be in contention for individual selection to the 2006 NCAA Division III Championship meet to be held next Saturday in Wilmington, Ohio.
The University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse (65 points) and North Central College (107) were the top two team finishers, thus earning automatic qualification to next week's national championship.
The University of Wisconsin-Platteville (112) , the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh (126), and Washington (Mo.) University (156) placed third through fifth to remain eligible for at-large selection. Chicago collected 245 points.
The NCAA will announce the field for the national championship meet tomorrow (Nov. 12) at 2:00 p.m. Central time.
