Maroons Win Fourth Straight
ROCK ISLAND, Ill. -- Freshmen forwards Alex Takakuwa (Davis, Calif./ Davis) and Edgar Friloux (Madison, Wis./ West) scored first-half goals as the University of Chicago men's soccer team defeated host Augustana (Ill.) College 2-1 on Wednesday evening.
All three goals in the contest were scored during a 9:34 stretch early in the first half.
Takakuwa put the Maroons (5-2-1) up 1-0 with his second goal of the year at the 15:13 mark.
Just 20 seconds later, Brad Becker tallied for Augustana (3-4) to tie the game at 1-1.
Friloux then scored what proved to be the game-winner at 24:47 to propel the Maroons to their fourth consecutive victory. Takakuwa assisted on the goal, the first of Friloux's career.
Senior goalkeeper Keith Crum (Holland, Pa./ Council Rock South) stopped six shots for the Maroons, while Augustana netminder Michael Dolan collected eight saves.
The Maroons outshot the Vikings 13-12.
