Maroons Drop 1-0 Decision at Washington

ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Onyi Okoroafor's goal in the 88th minute gave University Athletic Association rival and 25th-ranked Washington (Mo.) University a 1-0 win over the University of Chicago men's soccer team in the regular season finale for both teams Saturday at Francis Field.

Okoroafor scored on a one-timer off a cross from John Hengel at the 87:17 mark for the only goal of the contest.

Washington (12-3-2 overall, 4-2-1 UAA) outshot the Maroons 7-0 in the first half and 12-3 for the game. The Bears also held a slim 8-7 edge in corner kicks.

John Smelcer made a pair of saves for Washington. Senior netminder Keith Crum (Holland, Pa./ Council Rock South), who returned to the lineup after a five-game injury-related absence, stopped five shots for Chicago (10-5-3, 2-3-2).

The loss ended the Maroons' four-game unbeaten streak (3-0-1), while Washington increased its winning streak to five games.
