Maroons Win Elmhurst Invite
ELMHURST, Ill. -- Four Maroons posted first-place finishes as the University of Chicago men's outdoor track & field team opened its season by winning the eight-team Elmhurst College Invitational on Saturday.
Two throwers -- senior Neil Weijer (New Providence, N.J./ New Providence) and junior John Anderson (Downers Grove, Ill./ North) -- took top honors in their respective events, Weijer in the hammer throw (44.58 m) and Anderson in the discus (38.58 m).
Sophomore Eugene Kobayashi (New Orleans, La./ Country Day) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10:42.02.
Sophomore Seth Satterlee (New Orleans, La./ Metairie Park Country Day) led the way in the pole vault competition with a mark of 4.12 meters.
