Phil Kruzel Named UAA Athlete of the Week

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior Phil Kruzel (Elmhurst, Ill./ Fenwick) has been named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for wrestling, the conference announced today.

Kruzel captured the 165-pound title at the 14-team Cornell (Iowa) College Matman Invitational this past Saturday, winning five bouts to improve his season mark to 16-1. Among his victories was a 4-2 decision over William Penn College's Nate Sturgis -- the second-ranked 165-pounder in the NAIA -- in the championship match.

Kruzel garnered his second UAA Athlete of the Week award of the season and the third of his career.
