Garrett Brinker Named UAA Athlete of the Week

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago freshman Garrett Brinker (Granger, Ind./ Penn) has been selected as the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for men's tennis, the conference announced today.

Brinker won a pair of matches at singles and doubles as the Maroons defeated the College of Wooster (8-1) and host Wabash College (9-0) this past Saturday (Feb. 17).

In singles play, Brinker won in straight sets at second singles (6-1, 6-2) against Wooster and moved up to first singles against Wabash to post a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win. He teamed up with fellow freshman Noah Schneider (Jericho, N.Y./ Jericho) at second doubles in compiling wins over both teams (8-3 vs. Wooster, 8-2 vs. Wabash).

Brinker received his first career UAA Athlete of the Week citation.
