Phil Kruzel Named UAA Athlete of the Week

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior Phil Kruzel (Elmhurst, Ill./ Fenwick) has been named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for wrestling, the conference announced today.

Kruzel won five bouts to claim the 165-pound title at the Concordia (Wis.) University Open this past Saturday. Seeded fifth in the weight class, he registered decisions in four of his five matches and completed the run with a 7-3 victory over the second seed from Loras College in the final.

Kruzel collected his first UAA Athlete of the Week award this season and the second of his career.
