Tony Zitek Named UAA Player of the Week
CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior second baseman Tony Zitek (Tampa, Fla./ Plant) has been named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for baseball, the conference announced today.
Zitek posted a .750 batting average (9-for-12) in a 2-1 week for the Maroons. After opening the week hitting 4-for-5 with a run and three RBIs in an 8-1 win at North Central College, he combined to go 4-for-7 with a pair of runs and a stolen base in a doubleheader split at the Milwaukee School of Engineering.
On the season, Zitek is batting .292 and ranks second on the team with eight RBIs. He is the only player to have started all 13 games to date.
Zitek earned his first career UAA weekly citation.
