Dan Cozzi Named UAA Pitcher of the Week

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior Dan Cozzi (Park Ridge, Ill./ St. Ignatius) has been named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for baseball (pitching), the conference announced today.

A first-time UAA Athlete of the Week honoree, Cozzi threw a three-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts as the Maroons blanked host Wheaton (Ill.) College 3-0 last Tuesday.

The outing marked Cozzi's second in four starts in which he has thrown nine or more scoreless frames. On March 23, Cozzi tossed 10.0 shutout innings against Buena Vista University -- a game the Maroons eventually lost 1-0 in 12 innings.

On the season, Cozzi sports a 2-1 record with a 4.62 ERA. He has recorded 28 strikeouts in 25.1 innings.
