Three Maroons Earn All-UAA Honors
CHICAGO -- Three members of the University of Chicago volleyball team have been selected to the 2006 All-University Athletic Association Team, the conference announced today.
Junior middle hitter Koryn Kendall (Napa, Calif./ Vintage), freshman outside hitter Diandra Bucciarelli (Del Mar, Calif./ Torrey Pines), and freshman libero Liz Sugden (Woodstock, Ill./ Woodstock) were recognized as honorable mention selections.
A repeat All-UAA honorable mention pick, Kendall averaged 2.15 kills and 0.96 blocks in 12 Association matches. On the year, she ranked second on the team in kills (276, 2.12 per game) and total blocks (126, 0.97 per game).
Bucciarelli was the Maroons' leader in kills and service aces overall and in UAA play. She collected 288 kills (2.32 per game) and 60 aces (0.48 per game) for the season, including 106 kills (2.47) and 18 aces (0.42) in conference matches.
Sugden averaged 3.09 digs per game overall (300) and in Association competition (142).
Chicago (6-29 overall, 3-9 UAA) finished fifth at the UAA Championship to match its best conference performance since 2001.
