Chicago Posts 1-3 Mark at Central Invite
PELLA, Iowa -- The University of Chicago volleyball team won one of four matches at the Central College Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Junior Koryn Kendall (Napa, Calif./ Vintage) was named to the all-tournament team.
Chicago def. Bethany Lutheran 30-28, 19-30, 30-27, 30-27 (Sept. 22)
Sophomore outside hitter Katie Given (Atherton, Calif./ Castilleja School) hit a team-high 12 kills as the Maroons opened the tournament with a four-game victory over Bethany Lutheran College (2-10). Freshman outside hitter Diandra Bucciarelli (Del Mar, Calif./ Torrey Pines) and junior middle hitter Erin O'Neill (Peoria, Ill./ Notre Dame) collected 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Freshman libero Liz Sugden's (Woodstock, Ill./ Woodstock) 23 digs were the most by a Maroon this year.

Freshman middle hitter Anika Heavener (Telford, Pa./ Souderton) posted team highs with five kills and three blocks in a three-game loss to 12th-ranked tournament host Central (8-3).
#8 Wis.-Whitewater def. Chicago 30-17, 30-9, 30-25 (Sept. 23)
Kendall hit five kills and served a pair of aces as Chicago fell to eight-ranked Wisconsin-Whitewater (13-5) for the second time this year.
Coe def. Chicago 30-26, 32-30, 27-30, 21-30, 15-11 (Sept. 23)
Sophomore outside hitter Katie Volzer (North Canton, Ohio/ Lake) and Heavener clubbed 11 and 10 kills, respectively, as Chicago (3-15) battled Coe (13-2) to five games. O'Neill collected seven blocks, while senior setter Nikki Sindy (Granger, Ind./ Penn) contributed 25 assists and 10 digs.
