Maroons Finish 0-2 at Gargoyle Classic Day One

CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago volleyball team lost two matches on the first day of the 2006 Gargoyle Classic Friday night at the Ratner Athletics Center. After falling to Concordia (Wis.) University 30-25, 31-29, 30-25 in the opener, the Maroons dropped a 30-21, 30-20, 30-18 decision to sixth-ranked University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire in the second match.

Freshman outside hitter Diandra Bucciarelli (Del Mar, Calif./ Torrey Pines) hit nine kills and notched a .350 attack percentage as the Maroons opened the weekend with a three-game loss to Concordia (3-2). Junior middle hitter Erin O'Neill (Peoria, Ill./ Notre Dame) collected seven blocks, while sophomore outside hitter Katie Volzer (North Canton, Ohio/ Lake) led the Maroons with 11 digs.

#6 Wisconsin-Eau Claire def. Chicago 30-21, 30-20, 30-18
O'Neill collected a team-high eight blocks as the Maroons (1-11) fell to #6 Wisconsin-Eau-Claire (9-1).
