Maroons Remain Unbeaten with 91-49 Win over CMU
CHICAGO -- Senior Korry Schwanz (Menominee, Mich./ Menominee) led six Maroons in double figures with 16 points as the fifth-ranked University of Chicago women's basketball team routed Carnegie Mellon University 91-49 in University Athletic Association action Friday night at the Ratner Athletics Center.
The victory keeps Chicago (15-0 overall, 4-0 UAA) among only three undefeated teams in the NCAA Division III.
Schwanz tallied 13 points in the first half as the Maroons opened up a 46-31 advantage.
Chicago outscored the Tartans (6-9, 0-4) by a 36-3 margin during the first 10:32 of the second stanza.
Schwanz was one of three Chicago starters to reach double digits. Juniors Nicaya Rapier (Munster, Ind./ Bishop Noll) and Nofi Mojidi (Silver Spring, Md./ Bullis School) finished with 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Mojidi and sophomore Alex Leach (Gurnee, Ill./ Warren) shared game-high honors with six assists.
Junior Lori Tanaka (Chicago, Ill./ Lane Tech) and freshman Jamie Stinson (Topeka, Kan./ Shawnee Heights) notched career highs with 14 and 10 points, respectively, off the bench. Freshman Jill DiNucci (Glenshaw, Pa./ Shaler Area) matched her career best with 10 points.
Chicago shot 50.8% from the floor, while the Tartans shot just 31.0%.
