Maroons Improve to 12-0 with Win at MSOE
MILWAUKEE -- Junior Nofi Mojidi (Silver Spring, Md./ Bullis School) scored 23 points and collected seven steals as the seventh-ranked University of Chicago women's basketball team defeated host Milwaukee School of Engineering 75-64 Tuesday night at the Kern Center.
With the victory -- their 26th straight in non-conference play dating back to the 2004-05 campaign -- the Maroons finished the season undefeated (11-0) in non-league action for the second time in as many years.
Chicago (12-0) outscored the Raiders 15-5 during the final 6:36 of the first half to take a 36-26 lead at the intermission.
The Maroons held the advantage throughout the second half, leading by as many as 12 points, 55-43, at the 9:48 mark.
One of four Maroons to score in double figures, Mojidi connected on 10 of 13 field goal attempts en route to her fifth 20-point effort of the year.
Freshman Molly Hackney (East Lansing, Mich./ Lansing Catholic) finished with 17 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while senior Korry Schwanz (Menominee, Mich./ Menominee) added 14 points with a 4-for-9 effort from three-point range.
Junior Lori Tanaka (Chicago, Ill./ Lane Tech) came off the bench to contribute a career-high 11 points. She hit three of four shots from three-point distance.
Chicago shot 50% from the field, including a 53.3% clip (8-for-15) from behind the arc.
Dana Guthrie paced MSOE (6-10) with a game-high 27 points, matching the most by an opposing player this season.
Catherine Chappell added 19 points for the Raiders, who dropped their second straight game.
