Maroons Defeat St. Norbert
DE PERE, Wis. -- Junior Nofi Mojidi (Silver Spring, Md./ Bullis School) scored 10 of her game-high 18 points in the first nine minutes of the second half as the University of Chicago women's basketball team defeated host St. Norbert College 70-58 on Saturday afternoon.
Trailing 29-28 at the intermission, Chicago (3-0) opened the second half with an 12-2 run to take a 40-31 lead at the 15:31 mark. Mojidi scored seven points during that stretch. The Maroons expanded their lead to 50-37 on a free throw by Mojidi with 11:16 remaining.
A three-point basket by Tracy Palmer got St. Norbert to within six, 60-54, at the 3:52 mark, but the Maroons outscored the Green Knights 10-4 the rest of the way.
Sophomore Alex Leach (Gurnee, Ill./ Warren) and senior Korry Schwanz (Menominee, Mich./ Menominee) also finished in double figures for the Maroons, Leach with 13 points and Schwanz with 10.
Junior Nicaya Rapier (Munster, Ind./ Bishop Noll) notched her second double-digit rebounding effort in three games this season as she pulled down a game-high 11 boards.
Freshman Molly Hackney (East Lansing, Mich./ Lansing Catholic) finished with eight points, eight rebounds, five blocks, and three steals.
Palmer paced St. Norbert with 12 points off the bench, while Bianca White and Linsey Propson each chipped in 10.
