Chicago Reaps Academic Honors
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago women's cross country team was cited as an All-Academic Team, and three individuals received All-Academic honors as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced its 2006 award recipients for the NCAA Division III.
Chicago's 2006 squad -- which placed 19th at the NCAA Division III Championship -- compiled a composite grade point average of 3.49. All-Academic Team designation is awarded to teams with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.10.
Sporting cumulative GPAs of 3.50 or better, seniors Dilshanie Perera (Princeton, N.J./ Princeton) and Abby Sheldon (Durham, N.C./ N.C. Science & Math) and sophomore Rachel Venezia (Canton, Mass./ Canton) garnered All-Academic individual honors.
