Chicago Gains Team, Individual Academic Accolades

CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago wrestling team was cited as a Top-20 Scholar Team, and three individuals received Scholar All-America honors as the National Wrestling Coaches Association announced its 2006-07 award recipients for the NCAA Division III.

The 2007 University Athletic Association champion, Chicago compiled a composite grade point average of 3.33 -- the fifth-highest in the NCAA Division III.

Seniors Mike Bishof (Oak Brook, Ill./ York), Phil Kruzel (Elmhurst, Ill./ Fenwick), and Drew Marriott (Excelsior Springs, Mo./ Excelsior Springs) were recognized as Scholar All-Americans. To qualify, individuals must have placed among the top eight at their national-qualifying tournament and have recorded at least a 3.20 GPA.
