Farmer, Nachtergaele Earn Academic All-District Honors
CHICAGO -- University of Chicago junior forward Christine Farmer (Pine City, N.Y./ Elmira Notre Dame) and sophomore midfielder Siggy Nachtergaele (Davis, Calif./ Davis) have been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District Five Women's Soccer Team.
Both players were third team selections.
A biology major with a 3.57 grade point average, Farmer was the Maroons' top scorer this season with 14 goals and four assists for 32 points. Her 14 goals matched the fifth-highest output in school history. She currently ranks sixth on the Chicago all-time goals chart with 23.
Nachtergaele, who carries a 3.75 GPA in biology, collected two goals and a pair of assists for six points. She tallied the winning goal in Chicago's University Athletic Association opener, a 1-0 win over Carnegie Mellon University.
Chicago finished the 2006 campaign with a 12-5-1 overall record including a 4-3-0 mark in UAA play, which was good for third place.
