Maroons Defeat Case 2-0
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Junior midfielder Eva DeLaurentiis (Frankfort, Ill./ Lincoln Way East) and freshman midfielder Claire Gill (Los Altos Hills, Calif./ King's Academy) scored first half goals as the University of Chicago women's soccer team defeated host Case Western Reserve University 2-0 Sunday in University Athletic Association play.
DeLaurentiis scored her second goal of the season, and in as many matches, at the 12:10 mark off an assist from sophomore midfielder Olivia Ndyabagye (Albuquerque, N.M./ Sandia).
Gill then tallied her first career goal at 22:28 from an assist by senior forward Jordan Pouliot (Manchester, N.H./ Trinity). Gill became the 11th different player to score for Chicago (9-3-1 overall, 2-2-0 UAA) this season.
The Maroons held Case (4-9-1, 1-2-1) to just three shots -- none on goal -- as they snapped a two-game losing skid.
