Maroons Extend Home Undefeated Streak to 30 Games
CHICAGO -- Junior forward Christine Farmer (Pine City, N.Y./ Elmira Notre Dame) scored twice in the game's first nine minutes as the University of Chicago women's soccer team defeated Concordia (Minn.) College 2-1 Saturday at Stagg Field.
The win extended Chicago's (10-4-1) home field unbeaten streak to 30 matches (27-0-3) and its home winning streak to 15 games.
Farmer scored unassisted at the 5:32 mark. She hit the post following a scramble off a corner kick, retrieved the rebound, and fired it into the open net.
Just 3:08 later, senior forward Jordan Pouliot (Manchester, N.H./ Trinity) fed Farmer who beat Concordia (10-3-2) netminder Britt Reiersgord to give the Maroons a 2-0 lead.
Reiersgord collected five saves on the day, as did Chicago junior netminder Amanda Sutter (Irvine, Calif./ University).
Farmer's goals were her 11th and 12th of the season. She is the fourth player in Chicago history to tally 12 times in a season.
Concordia got on the board at the 66:10 mark when Amy Ravenhorst scored from the right side of the penalty box off an assist from Vanessa Kowalski.
