#12 Chicago Defeats #8 DePauw on Own Goal
CHICAGO -- In a matchup of nationally-ranked women's soccer teams, the 12th-ranked University of Chicago defeated #8 DePauw University 1-0 Saturday at Stagg Field.
Chicago (6-0-1) got the only goal of the match at the 63:11 mark when a DePauw defender deflected a cross into her own net.
The Maroons, who extended their home unbeaten streak to 27 games (24-0-3) and their home winning streak to 12 matches, outshot the Tigers (5-2) 7-1 in the first half before being outshot 9-3 in the second period.
Sophomore goalkeeper Polly Cline (Traverse City, Mich./ Central) made two saves -- both in the final 15 minutes -- en route to her fifth shutout of the year as Chicago won its fifth consecutive match.
Brooke Shipley collected a pair of saves for DePauw, which lost its second straight contest.
