Maroons Fall to Emory 1-0

ATLANTA, Ga. -- Emory University's Whitney Briggs scored midway through the second half to lift the host Eagles to a 1-0 University Athletic Association win over the University of Chicago women's soccer team on Saturday.

Briggs tallied her first goal of the season unassisted at the 60:00 mark for the only scoring of the match.

Emory (6-4 overall, 1-1 UAA) netminder Amy Franciscovich made five saves as the Maroons (8-2-1, 1-1) were held scoreless for the first time this season.

Junior goalkeeper Amanda Sutter (Irvine, Calif./ University) collected a pair of stops in a losing effort for Chicago.

Emory held an 8-6 edge in shots, while Chicago posted a 3-0 advantage in corner kicks.
