Maroons Defeat Wisconsin-LaCrosse
LA CROSSE, Wis. -- Junior forward Christine Farmer (Pine City, N.Y./ Elmira Notre Dame) extended her season-opening goal scoring streak to four matches as the 16th-ranked University of Chicago women's soccer team defeated host University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse 3-0 in non-conference play on Wednesday.
Farmer scored a pair of goals, giving her eight in four matches this season. She has moved into ninth place on the Chicago all-time goals chart with her 18th and 19th career tallies.
Chicago (3-0-1) got on the board at the 16:21 mark when senior midfielder Maya Pratt (Des Moines, Iowa/ West Des Moines Valley) scored her first goal of the year off an assist from Farmer.
The Maroons maintained the 1-0 edge until Farmer tallied at 55:20 from senior defender Sally Hall (Durham, N.C./ Jordan).
Farmer capped the scoring at 61:33 off an assist from senior forward Jordan Pouliot (Manchester, N.H./ Trinity). The goal gave Farmer her third multiple-goal effort in four games this season.
En route to its second straight victory, Chicago outshot Wisconsin-LaCrosse (2-1-1) 23-8.
Sophomore goalkeeper Polly Cline (Traverse City, Mich./ Central) stopped two shots to record her third shutout in four starts and lower her season goals-against-average to 0.47.
