Maroons Tie UW-Stevens Point
STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- Junior forward Christine Farmer (Pine City, N.Y./ Elmira Notre Dame) scored the tying goal in the 77th minute as the 18th-ranked University of Chicago women's soccer team played the host University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point to a 2-2 draw in non-conference play on Thursday.
Chicago (1-0-1) trailed for the first time this season when an own goal 3:22 into the second half gave the Pointers (1-1-1) a 2-1 edge. The lead held until Farmer notched her fourth goal of the year, unassisted, at the 76:12 mark.
Farmer collected an assist as the Maroons opened the scoring at 33:16 on freshman forward Melissa Plesac's (Hobart, Ind./ Hobart) first career goal.
UW-Stevens Point evened the score when Amanda Prawat found the back of the net with 3:50 left in the first half.
Chicago outshot the Pointers 16-9 for the game, and 3-1 in the overtime. UWSP netminder Meredith DeCaluwe kept her team in the match with seven saves -- four of them in the second half.
Sophomore goalkeeper Polly Cline (Traverse City, Mich./ Central) was credited with one save for the Maroons.
