Chicago Opens Season with Win over IIT
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago women's swimming & diving team opened its 2006-07 season with a 130-102 win over the Illinois Institute of Technology Friday night at the Myers-McLoraine Pool.
Five different Chicago swimmers notched winning performances: junior Ellie McNeil (Chicago, Ill./ Lincoln Park) in the 500-yard freestyle (5:56.34), junior Allyson Smally (Glastonbury, Conn./ Chesire Academy) in the 1,000-yard freestyle (12:56.74), freshman Jeannette Daly (Pittsburgh, Pa./ Baldwin) in the 200-yard freestyle (2:07.09), freshman Cassie O'Neill (Roseburg, Ore./ Roseburg) in the 200-yard individual medley (2:19.05), freshman Alicia Bushman (Geen Bay, Wis./ Home School) in the 100-yard backstroke (1:05.39).
The win marked a successful debut for first-year Head Coach Jason Weber.
