Chicago to Commemorate J. Kyle Anderson
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago will honor former long-time baseball coach J. Kyle Anderson in a plaque dedication ceremony prior to the Maroons' Saturday, Apr. 5 doubleheader with the University of Dallas.
A bronze plaque commemorating the naming of the baseball field for J. Kyle Anderson will be unveiled at approximately 12:45 p.m.
Anderson's daughter, three grandchildren, and two great grandchildren will be in attendance along with other family members.
Anderson lettered in baseball at Chicago from 1926-1928. After playing in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization, he returned to his alma mater to serve as head coach from 1934-1971.
Anderson coached the United States team in the 1959 Pan American Games, was a founding member of the American Baseball Coaches Association and a member of its Hall of Fame. He was elected to the inaugural class of the University of Chicago Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003.
