CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago baseball team lost both halves of a doubleheader to the University of Dallas in its 2008 home debut Saturday at J. Kyle Anderson Field.

Chicago fell 6-5 in extra innings in the first game before losing the game two 5-2.

The Maroons trailed 5-1 after two innings in the opener before scoring single runs in the sixth and seventh to send the game into extra frames.

Junior first baseman Kyle Schmitt (Hoffman Estates, Ill./ Fremd) delivered a two-out RBI single in the sixth before freshman left fielder Zach Osman (Long Beach, Ind./ Marquette) tied the game with a double with one out in the bottom of the seventh.

David Rettinger's run-scoring base hit in top of the eighth gave Dallas the 6-5 victory.

Tom Fogerty (2-1) picked up the win in relief after blowing the save in the seventh. Senior starter Nathan Ginsberg (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./ Dobbs Ferry) took the loss (1-1). He allowed six hits and five walks while striking out nine in 7.1 innings before giving way to junior Alex Gallan (Downers Grove, Ill./ South).

The Crusaders (18-10) pounded out 11 hits, including a pair of two-out RBI singles, en route to the 5-2 decision in the nightcap. Viron Hackney went 3-for-3 with a pair of RBIs.

Hong Soon Kwang (1-0) scattered five hits over 6.1 innings to earn the victory before Scott Crisp retired the final two batters for his first save.

Freshman Dan McConologue (Lockport, Ill./ Lockport) took the loss (1-1). He allowed all five runs -- three earned -- in five innings of work. Freshman reliever Marshall Oium (Temecula, Calif./ Great Oak) retired six of seven batters in the game's final two frames.

Freshman second baseman Nicholas Fazzari (Wheaton, Ill./ Glenbard South) collected the Maroons' lone RBI with a two-out single in the bottom of the second.

Chicago fell to 4-5, while Dallas improved its record to 18-10.
