Maroons Fall to Elmhurst
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago baseball team dropped a 10-2 decision to Elmhurst College Tuesday at J. Kyle Anderson Field.
The Maroons (6-8) took an early 1-0 lead on senior designated hitter Dominik Meyer's (River Forest, Ill./ Oak Park River Forest) run-scoring single in the bottom of the first inning.
Elmhurst (10-19) put up four runs in the top of the third and led 7-2 after five frames.
Chicago plated its second run in the sixth inning on an RBI groundout off the bat of senior right fielder Nathan Ginsberg (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y./ Dobbs Ferry).
Tom Rhein drove in four runs for the Bluejays.
Peter Childs (3-1) allowed eight hits and two runs over five innings to notch the win.
Freshman right-hander Dan McConologue (Lockport, Ill./ Lockport) took the loss for the Maroons. McConologue (1-2) gave up nine hits and seven runs over 4.2 innings. He walked three and struck out four.
