Chicago Falls to North Park

CHICAGO -- North Park University scored six times in the top of the seventh inning en route to a 12-7 win over the University of Chicago baseball team Wednesday at J. Kyle Anderson Field.

Trailing 7-6 through six innings, the Vikings (16-16) took advantage of three Chicago errors and a wild pitch to plate six runs in their half of the seventh. Three of the six runs were unearned.

North Park scored four times in the fourth inning and added another run in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead.

RBIs from Schmitt, freshman left fielder Zach Osman (Long Beach, Ind./ Marquette), and freshman shortstop Nick Fazzari (Wheaton, Ill./ Glenbard South) in the sixth inning gave the Maroons a 7-6 lead.

Schmitt and Fazzari each collected a pair of RBIs on the day. Junior catcher Scott Hofer (San Marino, Calif./ Flintridge) went 3-for-5 with a run scored, while senior designated hitter Dominik Meyer (River Forest, Ill./ Oak Park-River Forest) went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs and an RBI.
