CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior football player Mike Harriett (St. Charles, Ill./ North) has been selected to the 2007 American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team, the AFCA announced today.

Harriett has helped coordinate volunteers for the Chicago Special Olympics Spring Games, served as a tutor with the Friends of Washington Park program and at two area elementary schools, and initiated and completed several house improvement projects.
Harriett was one of 11 players selected nationwide from among teams representing the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA), Division II, Division III, and the NAIA. An 11-player team representing NCAA Division I-A schools was also chosen.
One of Chicago's 2007 co-captains, Harriett is a three-year starter at safety. He garnered All-University Athletic Association honorable mention accolades a year ago and received UAA All-Academic Recognition in 2005 and 2006.
