Nate Hainje Named to All-Region Teams
CHICAGO -- University of Chicago senior men's basketball player Nate Hainje (Brownsburg, Ind./ Brownsburg) has been selected to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and D3hoops.com All-Midwest Region Teams.
The 2008 University Athletic Association Player of the Year, Hainje earned NABC First Team honors and D3hoops.com Second Team recognition.
Averaging 16.0 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game, Hainje led Chicago (18-8) to the UAA championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III tournament. He was the only player in the conference to rank among the top ten in scoring, rebounding, and assists during the regular season.
A three-time UAA player of the week, Hainje tallied double figures on 19 occasions, including five games with 20 or more points. He also notched eight double-doubles -- six of them coming in the team's final seven contests.
He finished his career ranked among Chicago's all-time leaders in scoring (1,119 - 11th), assists (268 - 5th), rebounds (588 - 7th), three-point field goals (146 - 6th), and free throws (211 - 9th).
