Maroons Place 13th at Loyola
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago men's cross country team placed 13th among 21 teams at Loyola University Chicago's 35th Annual Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational Saturday at Montrose Beach.
The meet featured teams from all NCAA Divisions, including eight Division I squads. Teams representing the NAIA and Canada also participated.
Senior Ryan McCarl (Muskegon, Mich./ Mona Shores) and junior Jon Ascolese (Loveland, Ohio/ Loveland) paced the Maroons, as they finished 44th and 57th, respectively, among 234 runners. McCarl clocked an eight-kilometer time of 26:00, while Ascolese checked in at 26:12.
Malone College won the team title and boasted the top individual finisher in Ryan Kienzie, whose 24:34 time led the field.
