Chicago Falls to Elmhurst
CHICAGO -- Elmhurst College's Jake Pahr and Jacob Misel scored and assisted on second-half goals to lift the Bluejays to a 2-1 non-conference win over the University of Chicago men's soccer team Saturday at Stagg Field.
Chicago (3-3) scored the only goal of the first half when sophomore midfielder Joseph Farias-Eisner (Calabasas, Calif./ Harvard-Westlake) finished a rebound off the foot of senior midfielder Stuart Phelps (Helena, Mont./ Capital) with 40 seconds remaining in the opening period. Farias-Eisner's goal was his second of the campaign.
Elmhurst (4-1-1) evened the score early in the second half when Pahr converted a long feed from Misel at the 48:26 mark.
Misel then tallied the game-winner with just 1:50 left in the contest when he collected a rebound following a Pahr shot and scored from 10 yards out.
Britt Blackwell made three saves in goal for Elmhurst, while freshman Steven Baron (Chalfont, Pa./ Penn Charter) collected a pair of saves for the Maroons.
The loss snapped the Maroons' four-game unbeaten streak at Stagg Field and marked the team's first non-conference setback at home under second-year Head Coach Scott Wiercinski.
