Chicago Defeats Webster 3-0
WHEATON, Ill. -- Three different players scored as the University of Chicago men's soccer team won its first game of the season, defeating Webster University 3-0 Saturday at the Wheaton (Ill.) College Bob Baptista Invitational.
Junior forward Eric Floyd (McMurray, Pa./ Peters) scored just 50 seconds into the contest off an assist from sophomore midfielder Joseph Farias-Eisner (Calabasas, Calif./ Harvard-Westlake).
Chicago (1-1) tallied again at the 5:33 mark when freshman midfielder Andy Dallos (Weston, Mass./ Weston) notched his first career goal, with freshman forward Alex Clifford (Houston, Texas/ Phillips Academy Andover) picking up the assist on the corner kick.
Freshman midfielder Ryan Fitzgerald (Beaverton, Ore./ Westview) capped the scoring in the 30th minute with his first career tally. Freshman midfielder Kenzo Manners (Japan/ Hamamatsu-Kita) was credited with the assist.
Junior goalkeeper Micah Gruber (Rockville Centre, N.Y./ South Side) collected seven saves en route to his first shutout of the year and second of his career.
Chicago outshot the Gorlocks (0-2) 28-12.
