Maroons Fall at Wheaton
WHEATON, Ill. -- Matt Swartz scored two goals, and Strider Elass collected a goal and an assist as host Wheaton (Ill.) College defeated the University of Chicago 4-0 in non-conference men's soccer action Wednesday night.
Wheaton (10-2-1) outshot the Maroons 14-2 in the first half, but led just 1-0 at the intermission. Elass scored the only goal of the period when he converted a penalty kick in the 23rd minute.
Swartz gave the Thunder a 2-0 lead with his first goal of the evening at the 63:04 mark. He then scored off an assist from Elass in the 81st minute.
Joel DeLass capped the scoring with 1:21 left in the contest. Elass was credited with the assist.
Micah Lamb made four saves for Wheaton, which outshot Chicago (6-7-1) 22-7 on the night.
