Maroons Compete at ITA Regional

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Several members of the University of Chicago men's tennis team completed at the 2007 ITA Central Region Tournament Friday through Sunday at Kalamazoo College.

In singles competition, freshman Will Zhang (Wynnewood, Pa./ Lower Merion) won three of four matches to advance to the round of 16.

Three other Maroons -- sophomore Steve Saltarelli (Lake Bluff, Ill./ Lake Forest), freshman Lado Bakhutashvili (Fox Point, Wis./ Nicolet), and freshman Tim Walsh (Winter Springs, Fla./ Winter Springs) -- won two of three matches en route to the round of 32.

In doubles play, Bakhutashvili and Saltarelli notched a 4-1 mark to earn a spot in the semifinals.
