Maroons Defeat Luther in Regional Clash
CHICAGO -- The University of Chicago men's tennis team defeated Luther College 8-1 in a matchup of ranked Central Region teams Friday night at Bally's Hyde Park.
Chicago, ranked 13th in the region, won five of six singles matches and swept the doubles competition en route to the victory over the region's #12 Norse.
Sophomores Lado Bakhutashvili (Fox Point, Wis./ Nicolet) and Steve Saltarelli (Lake Bluff, Ill./ Lake Forest) and freshmen Mark Bonner (Chicago, Ill./ Latin School) and Tim Walsh (Winter Springs, Fla./ Winter Springs) each posted wins in singles and doubles.
Chicago improved its record to 7-3, including a 6-1 mark against NCAA Division III rivals. Luther slipped to 10-2.
