Chicago Places Fourth at UAA Championship
ATLANTA -- Sixteenth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University defeated the 21st-ranked University of Chicago men's tennis team 5-2 in the third place match at the 2008 University Athletic Association Championship Sunday morning.
Freshman Will Zhang (Wynnewood, Pa./ Lower Merion) won the Maroons' lone singles match with a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the first position.
At first doubles, sophomores Garrett Brinker (Granger, Ind./ Penn) and Steve Saltarelli (Lake Bluff, Ill./ Lake Forest) notched an 8-3 decision.
Chicago ended its regular season with a 13-8 mark, while the Tartans improved to 18-7.
