Maroons Place 2nd at Outdoor Opener
CHICAGO -- Sparked by six winning performances, the University of Chicago men's outdoor track & field team captured second place at the eight-team Ted Haydon Invitational Saturday at the Haydon Track at Stagg Field.
First-place finishers for Chicago included senior Zach Rodgers (Nashville, Tenn./ University) in the long jump (6.48 m), junior John Eric Humphries (Eagle River, Alaska/ Chugiak) in the 400-meter dash (51.53), junior Herman Reeves (Chicago, Ill./ St. Ignatius) in the 400-meter hurdles (57.25), sophomore Blake Obuchowski (Geneva, Ill./ Geneva) in the 100-yard dash (11.25), freshman Andrew Wells-Qu (Bethlehem, Conn./ Holy Cross) in the 800-meter run (1:58.70), and freshman Keith Newhouse (Palos Park, Ill./ Stagg) in the 200-meter dash (22.78).
Carthage College led the team field with 143 points. Chicago was next with 110.
