Maroons Place Third at IWU Invite
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. -- The University of Chicago men's indoor track & field team captured third place at the nine-team Bob Keck Invitational Saturday at Illinois Wesleyan University.
Freshmen Jacob Solus (Crestwood, Ill./ Oak Forest) and Arthur Baptist (Arlington Heights, Ill./ Prospect) turned in first-place finishes for the Maroons, Solus in the triple jump (13.16 m) and Baptist in the 5,000-mile run (15:35.36).
Two other Maroons notched second-place performances. Freshman Harrison Backlund (St. Paul, Minn./ Highland Park) was the runner-up in the mile run (4:20.69), while fellow first-year Drew Jackson (Sugar Hill, Ga./ North Gwinnett) finished second in the triple jump (13.05 m).
Junior Herman Reeves (Chicago, Ill./ St. Ignatius) posted third-place showings in both the 55- and 200-meter dashes (6.58, 22.83).
Senior Zach Rodgers (Nashville, Tenn./ University) was the third-place finisher in the long jump competition (6.30 m).
Augustana (Ill.) College won the event with 142 points. Monmouth (Ill.) College and Chicago were next with 112.5 and 100.5, respectively.
