CHICAGO -- University of Chicago junior shortstop Jen Jacobson (Schaumburg, Ill./ Conant) and sophomore outfielder/pitcher Kathleen Duffy (Hoffman Estates, Ill./ Barrington) have been selected to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region Team.

A second-team selection, Jacobson batted .517 -- the fourth-best season average in school history -- with three home runs and 13 RBIs. She hit safely in 27 of 28 games and ended the campaign with a 25-game hitting streak.

Duffy joined Jacobson on the all-region second team after batting .460 with three homers and a team-leading 24 RBIs. A third-team regional honoree a year ago, Duffy made 16 pitching appearances and played 16 games in the outfield, three at third base, and one at shortstop.

Chicago posted an 11-19 record this past season. The Maroons' schedule included 12 games against teams which ranked among the top eight in their respective regions and 10 contests against teams selected to participate in the 2008 NCAA Division III tournament.
