Three Maroons Earn UAA Athlete of the Week Honors
CHICAGO -- Three University of Chicago student-athletes have been recognized as the University Athletic Association Athletes of the Week in their respective sports, the conference announced today.
Junior Vindya Dayananda (Kathmandu, Nepal/ Lincoln School) and sophomore Marissa Lin (Irvine, Calif./ Tustin) were honored in women's tennis on the basis of their performance at the Wilson/ITA Central Region Championships.
Lin won six matches en route to claiming the singles title and teamed with Dayananda to capture the doubles crown.
Freshman quarterback Marshall Oium (Temecula, Calif./ Great Oak) was cited as the league's football player of the week (offense) after passing for 362 yards and three touchdowns in Chicago's 57-27 win over Lewis & Clark College. Making his first career start, Oium completed 26 of 39 passes with one interception.
