Brooke Bontz Named UAA Athlete of the Week

CHICAGO -- University of Chicago sophomore forward Brooke Bontz (Fort Collins, Colo./ Poudre) has been named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for women's soccer (offense), the conference announced today.

Bontz scored twice in the game's final 15 minutes to lift the Maroons to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over 10th-ranked Washington (Mo.) University Saturday at Stagg Field. After scoring on a 20-yard blast at the 74:15 mark, she notched the winning goal from inside 10 yards with 8:20 left in the contest.

Bontz finished the regular season as Chicago's leading scorer with seven goals and a pair of assists for 16 points.

Chicago (11-4-3) has received a bid to participate in the 2007 NCAA Division III Championship tournament and will host first- and second-round matches Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 10-11. The Maroons will face Aurora University (19-2-1) in opening-round play.
