CHICAGO -- University of Chicago junior guard Matt Corning (Wauconda, Ill./ Mundelein) has been named the University Athletic Association Athlete of the Week for men's basketball, the conference announced today.

Corning scored 55 points in two games en route to garnering all-tournament team honors at DePauw University’s Mike Rokicki Community Versus Cancer Challenge this past Saturday and Sunday.

Corning scored 29 points in an 89-75 win over Transylvania University in opening-round play, before pouring in 26 points in an 81-67 loss to the host Tigers in the championship contest. He connected on 18 of 26 attempts from the floor (69.2%), five of eight three-point tries (62.5%), and 14 of 16 free throw attempts (87.5%) on the weekend.
