Maroons Drop Two at Gargoyle Classic
CHICAGO -- On the first day of the Gargoyle Classic, the University of Chicago volleyball team fell 3-0 to Augsburg College before dropping a 3-1 decision to Trinity Christian College Friday at the Ratner Athletics Center.
In Friday's opening contest, Augsburg (5-6) handed the Maroons a 30-15, 30-18, 30-27 setback.
Senior middle hitter Koryn Kendall (Napa, Calif./ Vintage) led Chicago with 11 kills and a .320 percentage (11-3-25).
Kendall collected 17 kills and four blocks in a losing effort in Friday's nightcap, a 24-30, 30-26, 30-26, 30-24 loss to Trinity Christian (6-6). Kendall has hit double-digit kills in six of seven matches this season.
Sophomore outside hitter Diandra Bucciarelli (Del Mar, Calif./ Torrey Pines) finished with 11 kills and 15 digs for her third double-double of the year.
Chicago (2-5) concludes the Gargoyle Classic Saturday with back-to-back matches against Mount Union College and Defiance College, beginning at 11 a.m.
